The biggest taboo in the industry... PRICING!
Should we publish our pricing on our websites? Should we not? Everyone is different, but through this next few minutes of rambles, I will try my best to explain why I have chosen to share mine and be as transparent as possible for my clients.
#1 : Transparency
Showing pricing on my website is a great way to be transparent with my potential clients. It allows them to see what they can expect to pay for my services, which I believe can help to build trust and establish a sense of openness and honesty, prior to starting to work together.
#2 : Saves Time
Providing pricing information on my website can save both me and my potential clients time. Clients who are looking for a photographer can quickly and easily see if my pricing is within their budget, and can make an informed decision about whether or not to contact me for more information. I am always open to discuss briefs and any initial questions clients may have, but I hate thinking I am wasting a possible clients time if we are both on different financial journeys.
#3 : Eliminates Surprises
Providing pricing information upfront can help to eliminate surprises for my clients down the line. When my clients know what to expect in terms of my pricing, they are less likely to be caught off guard by unexpected costs or fees, which I find can help to improve my overall client experience.
#4 : Competitive Advantage
Clients are often looking for clear and straightforward pricing information, as in the current economic climate, people are busy and most people DO NOT want to emailing back and forward...they just do not have time. I have worked hard to give a 'starting' price which will hopefully help my clients in their decisions.
#5 : Qualifying Leads
Showing pricing on my website helps me to qualify leads and ensure that I am only spending my time and resources on clients who are a good fit for my business, as this way I know I can create the best possible work as our visions will align. My best work comes from briefs where we are completely in sync... and I will only work with clients that I fully understand their creative vision so I can do the best job possible.
In conclusion, I personally believe that showing pricing on my website as a photographer is important for transparency, saving time & eliminating surprises. By providing clear and straightforward pricing information, I can establish trust with my potential clients and make it easier for them to make an informed decision about whether or not to book my services.
