Product photoshoots are complex. They require a lot of planning, creative input and working with the client to bring their vision to life. Today, we are going to deep dive into this process and highlight the results.
Korunui, from Land to Hand. Korunui means New Beginning.
When I was first contacted by Rose the creator of Koronui, it was important for me to understand this product and the reasoning behind the business. Why? Because as a photographer, it is imperative to tell a story through imagery.
It became apparent that the story behind this product is about starting brand new leaf in life, it’s an empowerment for anyone who experience an unfortunate circumstance.
From here, I was able to start collating ideas. I felt it was important to use white predominantly through this shoot as it represents virtue, fullness and new beginnings. By using white, it also allowed the branding colours to pop and really shine through, creating strong, impactful visuals.
When it comes to props, I wanted to incorporate nature, natural elements and the connection between the product and its surroundings. That’s when the foraging started. I searched along some of Auckland’s secret spot beaches after a recent storm as I knew I would be able to borrow some interesting driftwood which I felt would be PERFECT within this shoot.
My set up was minimalistic and to create harsh shadows I used my Godox SL-60 without diffuser as this creates bold, bright shapes and strong contrast.

This shoot was to introduce this product to the market. I created 3 different dessert recipes that the vanilla can be used it to create connection between the potential customer and the product. We included web sized banner images and many images to be utilised across social media platforms and website.
Overall, I was thrilled with how this project went. I was able to take the vision of my client and bring it to life.
