In today's world, food photography has become an essential component of the food industry. With the rise of social media and online food delivery platforms, consumers have come to expect high-quality images of food before making a purchase.

Taking a trip down memory lane, I started working with restaurants and cafes a few years ago as a bit of a side hustle and then decided to flick the switch/pull the band aid off/ take the leap into self-employment in Feb 2022!

Over this time, I have worked with a plethora of amazing business owners and the funny thing is they all say the same, QUALITY IMAGERY helps with sales in their business'. One of my recent clients let me know recently that since updating the imagery on their website, there take away's have increased by 37%!!

37%???… mind blown!

But why is this? Let me tell you!

#1 : Attractiveness
The primary reason why quality food photography is important is that it makes food look more appealing! People eat with their eyes and a well-executed food shot can not just make the dish look truly delicious, it can encourage potential customers to visit your restaurant, café or order from the menu. The colors, textures, and composition of the food photograph all play a role in attracting customers.

#2 : Branding
Food photography can also play a significant role in branding. A consistent style of food photography can help to create a brand image that customers can easily recognise. This can help your restaurants or food businesses to stand out from competition and create a strong relatable brand identity.

#3 : Social Media
We love it and we hate it but regardless, social media has become an incredibly important platform for promoting food businesses. A well-executed food photograph can go viral on social media, reaching millions of people in a short amount of time. This can lead to increased brand recognition, increased sales, and greater customer engagement... all from a single quality image!

#4 : Online Ordering
With the rise of online food delivery platforms, customers have come to expect high-quality images of food before making a purchase. Quality food photography helps to showcase your food in the best possible way, which can encourage customers to order from the menu. No one will actively order a meal if the image promoting it is dull, blurry, out of focus and dark. People just cannot afford to be wasting money in this current economic climate, they want to make sure what they are ordering is good!

#5 : Menu Design
Menu design is another area where quality food photography can have a significant impact. A well-designed menu with high-quality photographs can make the food more appealing and therefore encourage customers to order more items. The photographs can also help to convey important information, such as ingredients and preparation methods, making it much easier for diners to understand what they want and reduce the chance of complaints when it arrives.

In conclusion, quality food photography is essential for any business operating in the food industry. It can help to attract customers, create a strong brand image, and increase sales. With the rise of social media and online food delivery platforms, high-quality food photography has become more important than ever.

If you are running a business and wearing all the hats, I get it, it’s stressful. You understand the importance of great visuals for your business but you just do not have time.

If you are feeling burned out and overwhelmed when it comes to lighting, styling, colours, camera settings and why it’s taking you so much time to even try to learn these, it’s totally understandable and that’s when you know it’s time to outsource.

Overall, you are the captain of the ship when it comes to your business and you are not expected to do this alone. If this sounds like you, then simply get in touch! I would love to bring your vision to life and assist in your business' success!
